Andre Saraiva's debut short is everything that I had wanted. His co-writer Olivier Zahm, EIC of Purple and everyone's favorite not so old "dirty old French man" is perfectly suited to the film's treatment of Paris. The lead, Leo Fitzpatrick describes their distinct vision perfectly: "that’s kind of how they see life, you know, every girl is attracted to them." The shoe is so effective because its so close to the creators artistic reality. The ingenue is Saraiva's lover, the exquisite Annabelle Dexter Jones, and the character comes as much from the director's life as well as a knowing wink to Fitzpatrick's cinematic start.“The central character is a little as if Leo character in Kids has moved to Paris nearly 15 years later.” Leo's Telly comes out on the skateboard and in his eyes, the young Chole Sevigny somehow present on his skin. This lovely/dirty/charming piece of Paris fits nicely in those J.M Westons.
