i love a good game changing editorial. My previous indifference to polka dots and Saskia De Brauw has officially been overcome. I like the way the patterns are slightly warped, perverted, and echoed in challenging ways. Now, i'm almost ashamed of how long it took me to see the power of Saskia's presence and her remarkable beauty.

Tati Cotliar in Black and White

Tati Cotliar writhes and stops hearts with her glares in this short by Harrison Boyce and Nathaniel Brown. The piece is inspired by "the 'double negative' effect produced by solarizing footage of billowing smoke"(nowness.com) This one part 80's sci fi, one part tatiana the brazilian beauty doing her thing, is a nuanced and beautiful struggle between their visual rhythms and her emotional expression pulsating between and throughout the transitions into and out of light and dark.

Fashionable Food

Maybe its just because i'm on a cleanse (no sugar, among other things, for 21 days), but i can't stop staring at this cake. I am overwhelmingly visually pleased. The graphic Stella McCartney print has never looked so good.

Silhouettes and Shadows

Dree's extensive ballet background, evident in her acute awareness of her body, its angles and form, makes her such a dynamic and interesting model. Her gorgeous eyes and the playful/brilliant styling doesn't hurt this awesome editorial either.

Slightly Sacreligious

Ms. Frackowiak is frequently cast in editorials of this vaguely dark, religious tone. I don't know exactly what she does to create such compelling characters, but boy does she make it look good.
